Marvel Characters & More

Anyone who has known me for 5 minutes, or since I was 12, knows I love Marvel Comics’ Daredevil. I’m a little weird about it actually. He is a source for my imagination along with Batman (ok, DC), Black Panther, and the X-Men (honestly I dig ‘em all). Here are some related works. You’re likely to find Daredevil and his friends on other pages as well.

Mite and Ham

The angle and devil on the shoulder is an old trope, but I thought a serious Daredevil and a little toonish magic would spice it up.

“Marvel Summoning Jutsu”

Elektra is a cool character, as is Naruto. In the “modern imagination” it can mean a lot of things to be a “ninja”. I wonder if they would get along. I’m guessing not. I do know Naruto would tell her to never give up.

“Unlikely Encounter”

This odd coupling is based on the Marvel trope of heroes fighting before they team-up. Drizzt Do’Urden is derived from the cover of Starless Night (2008) and Daredevil is based on a 2001 collector card. More about these characters are a Google search away. My friends and I were Drizzt and Dungeons & Dragons crazy when we were kids (I still am a bit).

“Turning Red - Without Fear”

I found a cute coloring page of a red panda and for some reason did a mash up with Daredevil. This was fun to make.

“Darth Grinchus’ Revenge”

Not sure what I was going for here. Maybe something about AI taking over as we are distracted by petty rivalries and pop culture nonsense. Or it’s an excuse to give the Grinch and Stitch light sabers. I wonder if the Sentinel Mark VII (X-Men anyone) will destroy them all.

“Well Red Men”

Red is my favorite color. These characters are so different and yet so the same. Daredevil, The Flash, and Hell Boy. I was inspired by stickers I found on Etsy.

“Daredevil & the Narwhal”

This narwhal was in one of my daughter’s activity books and I thought he looked sweet. I tried to capture a “nursery” art feel. DD is in his original yellow outfit.

“Heartless”

Iron Man and the Tin Man. They both have heart issues. Here they are with each other’s gear. Both these guys were inspired by coloring pages.

“Small World”

Tink and Wasp just hanging out. I wonder if when Wasp shrinks she can hear Tinker Bell’s voice or if it just sounds like a jingling bell. Tink checking out Wasp’s bottom was a total accident.

“Héros à Paris”

The things my daughters like are often a source of inspiration. Sometimes I’m trying to freeze a stage before it’s gone. This was gift for my youngest who is into Ladybug from Miraculous and Spider Gwen / Ghost Spider. Ladybug and Gwen were inspired by some fan art.

“The Stag Without Fear”

I love that there is a universe Marvel fills with anthropomorphic animal versions of their characters. I copied this guy from a single comic panel to give him a grand-painted moment. He’s now ready to team up with Spider-Ham.

Daredevil: Evolution

I’ve learned to make chibi-style characters from regular art, so I put together this DD evolution style plaque. I found iconic art online to make this work.

“A few more Daredevils”

I find making Daredevil flip or jump to be a go-to for me. The two paintings on the right are original, on the left, inspired by others. Yep, a lot of Daredevil around here. I wish I could say it’s the last.
